"The knowledge that every day there is something more to learn,
something higher to reach for, something new to make for others,
makes each day infinitely precious"

What is Spark Creative Works up to?

We're up to hard work as usual! We are currently planning our summer season as well as creating the rest of our show line up for Cherry Bomb Improv. But really, what's projects are in the works?!

Women's Writer's Festival/ "Film de Femme" Festival

We are in the midst or prepping and producing our "Women's "Writing Festival" and we are VERY excited about it. We're all about creating more opportunities for women in all areas of the arts. The goal of this project was/is to create more opportunities for new female writers to get their work shown, for aspiring female directors to get their hands on some new material and for female performers to have a chance at portraying roles written by women FOR women.

*We never discriminate gender and all writers are welcome to write character of any gender so long as the story focusses are a female character, we will cast other genders as needed for each piece at the discretion of each director. There are opportunities for all here with Spark Creative Works!

We have had to reimagine our project quite a bit due to the COVID-19 Health Crisis and will now be producing these plays as short films in our newly branded "Film de Femme Festival". You can check out the updates to our project under "Writing Festival Updates" under the "More" tab.

Shakespeare & Puppeteers (A Summer Shakespeare Festival)

After our Women's Writer's Festival featuring modern work by current writers we will be switching gears and jumping into some classics! Our next project will be a Shakespeare festival, the goal of this festival is to allow women to play stereotypically male roles while also including an element of Puppetry to bring to life some of Shakespeare's Most magical and horrifying works. Our project will include one of Shakespeare's Comedies and one of his Tragedies. We would like to give female performers the opportunity to step into roles they never thought they'd be able to play while also creating more work and training future female puppeteers in this rare art form.
